John C. Williams has been appointed town clerk to fill the vacancy
caused by the death of Silas H. Bucklin.The office has been vacated
twice by death during the year.

Wm. Otis, Esq., has one of the finest fruit orchards in this section,
and he takes great pride in its care and cultivation.

The listers meet on the 8th of May, to hear any claims taxpayers may
make in reference to their lists.

C. H. Congdon, Esq., goes to Kansas this month.

S. H. Bucklin, Esq., town clerk, died last week, after an illness of
several weeks, at the age of 45. His funeral was attended the following
Wednesday, Rev. J. W. Bennet officiating.

The snow is two or three feet deep on the mountains.

The marriage of Lavine Grinnell of Pawlet, and Mary, daughter of William
Vail, is announced.

Mrs. Sally Sherman, wife of Edward Sherman, who died in Clarendon a few
days since, was a native of Danby, a daughter of Joseph Phillips, and
sister to Joseph N. Phillips, of a family of nine, her death leaves but
three living.
