Robert Branchaud, aged 18 years, son of Henry Branchaud, of Rutland, a
railway mail clerk on the Rutland road, has been at his home on a short
furlough, having just returned from a six months' trip to Cuba, England
and France, as gun sighter on the battleship Georgia. He was promoted to
this responsible position soon after finishing last summer his three
months' training. He has been selected as one of a rifle team of twelve
men from the north Atlantic squadron, the only one from the Georgia, to
complete with a team from the Annapolis Naval academy at Wakefield,
Mass., next summer.
