Dr. E. J. FOUNTAIN, of Davenport, Iowa, died after an illness of a week, a few days since. He had been for some time engaged in an investigation of the properties of chlorate of potash, as a cure for consumption. It is presumed that he has been experimenting on himself with small doses of this medicine, gradually increasing them, until, on Friday last, he took an ounce, which proved too much for him.
