Mortuary Notice John B. Lamont

John B. LAMONT, father of Secretary of War Daniel S. LAMONT, died Sunday night at his home in McGrawville, NY. He was born in Scottish Mountain [Scotch Mountain?], NY, April 10, 1825. His parents, Daniel and Margaret LAMONT, came to America from the Isle of Bute, Scotland, in 1817. The family moved to McLean, NY, in 1848 [1818?] and they had a farm near Cortland for two years. Mr. LAMONT afterward moved to McGrawville where he engaged in mercantile business, which he continued until two years ago. He was one of a family of fifteen children. He had a stroke of paralysis six years ago, from which he never fully recovered. He leaves a widow, to whom he was married in Andes, NY, February 14, 1832. Secretary LAMONT is their only child. The funeral will be held tomorrow.
