Second Congressional District of Alabama
The District Convention assembled yesterday at noon in the city of Montgomery. The anti-Herbert men captured the convention by electing the temporary Chairman, P. B. Martin, of Montgomery being chose. The vote stood 31 to 24. A long struggle is anticipated. The indication is that Congressman Herbert will likely be defeated. The result of the Convention will be awaited with great interest in Alabama as the opposition to Col. Herbert is based upon his outspoken opposition to the sub-treasury warehouse scheme. In event of Col. Herbertís defeat it is not improbable that Hon. A. A. Wiley will become his successor.
