August HOFFMANN, Swansea miner, is finding himself in a mess of trouble because of his inability to get along with Walter MEYER, proprietor of the grog shop of HOFFMANN's corner.
According to the police, the bone of contention is a woman. Monday HOFFMANN was hauled before Judge LAUTS on a warrant sworn out by the Village of Swansea, accusing the man of disturbing the peace in MEYER's buffet. He was fined $25 and costs, and paid.
Tuesday MEYER got a warrant out against HOFFMANN accusing him of making threats to kill. MEYER declares he fears HOFFMANN will carry the threats into execution and therefore desires him put under a peace bond. HOFFMANN was sent to jail until Thursday when he will have a hearing on the latest charge.
