The marriage of Miss Ruth Watkins, daughter of Representative and Mrs. J. T. Watkins, of Louisiana, to Capt. William M. Taliaferro, U. S. A., of Tampa, Fla., took place yesterday afternoon. The ceremony was performed at 4 o'clock in St. Thomas' Church by the Rev. C. Ernest Smith, rector of the church, in the presence of a small company of relatives. Arrangements for the wedding were made as simple as possible, owing to the Lenten season. The decorations in the church were confined to the chancel, where Easter lilies, palms and fern were used Miss Nellie Watkins was her sister's only attendant, and the best man was Mr. Thomas Taliaferro, of Tampa, Fla., brother of the bridegroom. The ushers were Capt. Mills Kitchin, U. S. A., of North Carolina; Lieut. William Carrington Stettinius, U. S. A., of New York; Mr. Morton Keith, of Richmond, and Mr. Thomas Fitzhugh, of the University of Virginia. The bride, who was escorted and given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin draped with tulle and caught in dainty clusters of orange blossoms.
Her tulle veil was held with a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried gardenias and white lilacs. Her maid of honor was in pale blue georgette crepe with a large garden hat to match, trimmed with gay spring flowers. She carried snap-dragons. A small and informal reception followed the ceremony In the home of the bride's parents at the George Washington Inn. After which Capt. and Mrs. Taliaferro left for a short wedding trip, the latter wearing a traveling suit of dark blue tricotine with a smart black tailored hat. Among the guests were, the Chief Justice and Mrs. White, the Secretary of the Treasury and Mrs. Glass, Miss Agnes Hart Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Carson Taliferro and Miss Stella Tallaferro, of Tampa, Fla., parents and sister of the bridegroom.-From the Washington Post.
