Mrs. Josephus DANIELS was the guest of honor at a luncheon for which Mrs. Claude SWANSON was hostess. Invited to meet Mrs. DANIELS were Miss Mary Custis LEE, Mrs. John K. SHIELDS, Mrs. Walter A. WATSON, Mrs. Joseph THROPP, Mrs. G. L. P. STONE and her guest, Mrs. F. S. HOPE, of Portsmouth, Va.; Mrs. H. L. RUST, Mrs. Edgar WOODS, Mrs. Douglas GORDON, of Baltimore; Mrs. William AYLETT, of Virginia, and Mrs. SWANSON’s house guest, Mrs. Riley GORDON, of New York, and Mrs. Arthur FELICSON, of San Antonio, Tex. The color scheme was pink, the table being decorated with baskets of pink sweet peas and other spring blossoms.
Mrs. GORDON and Mrs. FELICSON, who have been with Mrs. SWANSON for a week, will remain until the first of next week. Lowry DALE, of New York, is also visiting Senator and Mrs. SWANSON.
Senator and Mrs. SWANSON will leave Washington immediately after Easter for their country place in Virginia.
Mrs. Hal SMITH will be at home informally tomorrow afternoon at the Brunswick in compliment to Mrs. Frederick BAUER, who is visiting Mrs. W. H. FRANKLIN at the Woodley.
The Kappa Sigma Fraternity have cards out for a tea at the Fraternity House, 1100 Vermont avenue, on Sunday afternoon.
A field of fifty turned out yesterday afternoon for the drag hunt, which was arranged by the officers at Fort Myer, and which started from the post, returning to the Officers Club for tea. Among those who completed the course were the Misses SCRIVEN, daughters of Brig. Gen. George P. SCRIVEN, Miss Ruth HITCHCOCK, Miss Edythe HOWARD, Miss Blanchard SCOTT, Miss Margaret TREAT, Mrs. Sinclair BOWEN, Mrs. Harold C. VANDEVEER, Miss Meta Morris EVANS, Col. Charles G. TREAT, Lieut. Edwin St. John GREBLE, Lieut. John M. EAGER, Lieut. John G. WINTER, Lieut. Victor WHITSIDE, Capt. Charles G. HAIGHT, Lieut. Paul D. CARLISLE, Capt. Edward T. DONNELLY, Lieut. George L. MORRISON, all of Fort Myer; John O. EVANS, M. F. H. of the Riding and Hunt Club; James MURPHY, the huntsman; Joseph DEVEREUX, the whip; Ralph COFFIN, Col. William W. HARTS, Dennis UPSON, and Congressman J. Willard RAGSDALE.
