Athens, Jan. 9.

The oldest citizen in this place, Mr. O. B. HURSEY, died at his late residence today, aged 74 years. He had long been a citizen of Athens, having spent the past sixty years here. He for many years prior to the war between the States owned and operated a large carriage factory in Athens. He died very suddenly of heart failure.

Mr. Milton WEATHERFORD, one of the oldest residents of this county, was found dead today on the farm of his niece, where he was living. He was an old man and a cripple. He was one of the wealthiest men in the county. He leaves two sons.

John HINE was shot and seriously if not fatally wounded last afternoon ten miles west of Athens while hunting. He was crossing a fence when his gun was discharged and the load passed through one hand and entered the body.
