A Boy Shot Down in His Tracks
LYNCHBURG, VA., September 19. -- Great excitement exists in Amherst county over the unprovoked murder, last night, of Samuel Mitchell, sixteen years old. The boy, in company with two others, were in search of cows, when they arrived at a hunters' camp in the woods, occupied by three men. George Fortune, one of the men, ordered Mitchell to carry a beer-keg for him. The boy refused, and Fortune shot him down in his tracks.
