Barbour Senator For President Pro Tem
Its the runner and not the talker who wins the race. This is Senator-elect G. Earnest Jones philosophy in his contest with Thos. L. Bulger and Oscar S. Lewis for president pro tem of the Alabama Senate.
I do not think great statements will do any good, said Mr. Jones. I know that I have enough votes pledged to tie a big knot in the political rope and I know it will take some work to untie it. However, I do not say that I will be elected, and I do not believe any person has enough votes assured to give him the honor. I am as well satisfied with my campaign as any other could be.
