Barbour Senator For President Pro Tem
“It’s the runner and not the talker who wins the race.” This is Senator-elect G. Earnest Jones philosophy in his contest with Thos. L. Bulger and Oscar S. Lewis for president pro tem of the Alabama Senate.
“I do not think great statements will do any good,” said Mr. Jones. “I know that I have enough votes pledged to tie a big knot in the political rope and I know it will take some work to untie it. However, I do not say that I will be elected, and I do not believe any person has enough votes assured to give him the honor. I am as well satisfied with my campaign as any other could be.”
