Description: Two Surviving Pall Bearers of Lincoln's Funeral

Date: June 22 1905

Newspaper published in: Pittsboro, MS

Source: MSU Library

Page/Column: Page 2, Column 1

There are only two survivors of those who were designated to act as official pallbearers at the funeral of Abraham Lincoln, and each is over 80 years old. One is Henry G. Worthington, who at that time was a congressman from Nevada and the other is Alexander H. Coffroth, then representing a Pennsylvania district in the national legislature. The former was a republican and the latter a democratic representative and neither has changed his politics since that time. They are the survivors of an array of distinguished Americans.
