PERSONAL AND LITERARY
Clark Russell, whom old sailors regard as the only man who ever knew how to describe the sea, was 58 years old last month. This noted writer of sea stories lives in Bath, England, far from salt water, a hopeless cripple from rheumatism. Between the ages of 13 and 21 he sailed in British merchant vessels, and during that time learned how to draw his wonderful pen pictures of life on the ocean.
