CALVE TO DIRECT TRIMMING OF HAT
Will Be Feature at Donation Shop Today – Two Thousand Dollars Raised From Sales.

Mme. Emma CALVE is to direct the trimming of a hat at 1 o'clock today at the Donation Shop, 1301 F street. With stock in trade greatly augmented, the shop is able to report a profit of about $2,000 on sales since March 15. The money will be forwarded to the committee having charge of the American Hotels for Refugees in Paris, who will expend it for food, clothing and medicines.
Great bargains are being offered at the lowest prices, and the stock in trade runs the gamut of variety from treasured heirlooms to the newest gowns and hats. A pair of lacquered Chinese stands occupy a prominent pace, and a French cloisonne jar, elaborately enameled, has been much admired. A parasol handle and buckle of ivory and a set of corals recall the dress epergne of glass and silver harks back to the Victorian period.
Several fine old engravings are among the “donations” for sale, among them one by Timothy COLE. Almiral DAVIS' water-color of the Octagon House already has been raffled off and has added substantially to the fund.
On Wednesday, the closing day, the remaining stock will be sold at an amusing auction, giving bargain hunters the opportunity of acquiring some job lots at small price. The committee hopes to have raised at least $3,000 when accounts are balanced.
Mrs. Larz ANDERSON, Mrs. Winthrop CHANLER, Miss Elizabeth ADAMS, Mrs. George Cabot LODGE and Miss TUCKERMAN are leading the workers. They have been assisted by a number of volunteer saleswomen.
