Mrs. J. H. Cook and little child returned to Rich Hill to-day from their
Nevada visit.
Miss Bertha Marsh was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Robt. Johnson, at
Butler this afternoon.
Ell Wilson of the country south departed this afternoon for Peru,
Indiana, on a visit to the family of a daughter.
H. Loeb left last night for St. Louis and on to New York to buy goods
for his bug Loeb stores. He will be absent several days.
Miss Ninon Dooley, who had been the guest of Miss [???] Weeks for the
past few days, returned to her home at Butler this afternoon.
Miss Ida Hines, who has been the guest of Rich Hill relatives and
friends, returned to her home at Kansas City by this morning's Frisco.
Robt. Richardson, who has been here on a visit to his brother, Hugh
Richardson, returned to Ft. Scott this afternoon. He is in the railway
mail service.
A darky, giving his name as A. Love was badly injured at the coal chutes
at Nevada yesterday. The fellow was beating his way from Memphis,
Tenn., to Sedalia.
Miss Donna Geiger left this afternoon to spend a few days at Kansas
City. From Kansas City she will go to McLouth, Kansas, to visit with
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Fisher.
W. L. Whitney is back from his trip to Louisiana (in Missouri). Whit
took a boat ride on the big creek and spent a few days down in Memphis.
Judge Graves and family return this week from Colorado.
Chas. James arrived from Butler this afternoon and has accepted a
position at the store of Howard P. James. It is a peculiar coincidence
that these two are in no way related.
Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Sailor, who has been guests of Mrs. Sailor's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jno. C. Taylor, went to Schell City this afternoon to visit
with Mr. Sailor's parents.
Governor Dockery has appointed Judge Calvin F. Boxley notary public for
Bates county....
H. I. Ebersole of the Monitor Printing Co., Ft. Scott, was here to-day.
Col. F. J. Tygard or Butler was down for a visit to the family of W. F.
Tygard.
Mrs. Jas. McKibben arrived home this afternoon from her visit at Kansas
City.
Mrs. J. W. Jamison returned home this afternoon from her visit at the
State Fair.
The home of Carl Gench at the corner of Fayette and Chestnut is being
re-painted.
John Hickey and Arthur Martin drove over to Hume to witness the ball
game this afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. B. Loeb arrived this afternoon from Columbia, Mo., on a
visit to the family of H. Loeb.
Miss Lenora Clifford was a passenger to Butler yesterday to be the guest
of friends for several days.
Mrs. Ed McMahan, of Rich Hill formerly Miss Alice Kent, of this city, is
visiting her mother.
Ralph Williams has accepted the position made vacant by the resignation
of Fred Hanely at H.V. Geiger's.
Mrs. A. J. Stevens and daughter, Mrs. G. A. Hopkins, returned this
afternoon from a visit to the State Fair at Sedalia.
Jose Krieger who has been down from Kansas City to help the boys
"batch," went back to work this afternoon.
Miss Myra Frye of Rich Hill arrived here last Saturday and is now
visiting in the Wonder City, the guest of her friend, Miss Ora Carney.
Chas. McCubbin, known as Nevada's poet, was in the city this afternoon.
Riley B., Pat Liston's little horse, won the Free-for-all pace at
Decatur, Ill., yesterday.
