CHICAGO, March 1.—Representatives of the leading American universities have effect an association to be known as the Association of American Universities. It is for the consideration of matters of common interest relating to graduate study. The following executive committee was elected: President Charles W. Eliot, of Harvard University; vice president, Benjamin Ide Wheeler of the University of California; William Raney Harper of the University of Chicago, President D. C. Gilman of Johns-Hopkins University and President Seth Low of the Columbia University.

CHICAGO, March 1.—Former Banker E. S. Dreyer was found guilty today of withholding from his successor a treasurer $316,000 of the West park funds. The jury fixed the punishment at a term in the penitentiary.
