Negro Burglar Shot Down

ATLANTA, May 5.—“Lige” Jefferson, a negro, was shot and mortally wounded by Charles Kates, a white man, last night while trying to break into the residence of Mrs. Kroeber, where Kates lives. The bullet struck the negro in the head, piercing the brain. After being wounded the negro ran some distance, where he was found and sent to the hospital.
