INJURIES PROVE FATAL

Matthew Hannon, Victim of Quarry
Accident, Died Yesterday.
Poultney, March 12 Matthew
Hannon, ' whose body was badly
crushed in the accident at the Con
solidated Slate company's quarry
Monday morning in which his broth
er, James Hannon lost his life, died
about 4 o'clock this morning. Death
is supposed to have resulted from in
ternal injuries. Mr. Hannon, whose
home was In Hampton, N. Y., was 24
years old. He is survived by five sis
ters and two brothers.
The accident which resulted in the
death of the Hannon brothers, oc
curred In the pit of the quarry. The
two men were engaged in prying a
large slab of slate from the side
wall when the heavy mass suddenly
fell. James Hannon was insiannj
killed and Matthew suffered a com
pound fracture of one leg, several
broken ribs and internal injuries.
