ALMOST SEVERED HIS HEAD
-------
Walker Attacks Thompson with a Sword.
More Trouble Threatened.
-------
EDWARDSVILLE, Ala., July 4.-J. W. Walker has killed Whit Thompson here. Two young men, Thompson and Bragg, went to Walkers house, about 3 miles north of town, and became involved in a difficulty with Walker, who ran them off. Later they returned and renewed the difficulty and Walker got out an old sword and attacked Thompson. He almost severed Thompsons head and hacked about the body. In the meantime Bragg was knocked senseless and was lying on the ground. Walker got his wife and child and carried them to the nearest neighbors house and then came to town and gave himself up to the sheriff, telling him what he had done.
Walker is a lawyer, but of late years has been farming. The community in which it occurred is terribly wrought up over the affair. Further trouble and other arrests are expected. The grand jury will thoroughly investigate the affair.
