Shiloh Battle Field
Col. E. T. Lee, of Monticello, Ill., was in Birmingham, Ala., recently on an interesting mission.
Col. Lee desired to confer with a number of the confederate veterans with a view of getting them to join the association of the Shiloh battlefield. Col. Lee is a member of the committee which has secured an option on the celebrated field, and congress will take hold of the matter and most likely purchase the battlefield. Now the association intends taking charge of the field and erecting mounds over the unknown dead and will keep it in shape. At least 4,000 bodies lie on that field in Tennessee uncared for.
