MAKE PITIFUL APPEAL
-------
Two Americans Subjected to Horrors of Russian Prison
-------
San Rafael, Cal., July 16.George McComish, whose relatives live here, has written them from a Russian prison at Vladivostok appealing for help.
McComish and two Americans sailed from Yokohama with permission from the governor to visit Japan to hunt for animals in the Kurrie Island.
They were caught in a gale and swept toward the Russian islands, where they eventually went ashore to get water and supplies. The Russians suspected them of sealing and imprisoned them. They have since remained in jail, half starved, shut off from any appeal to the representative of their government, doomed to long terms of imprisonment. An effort has been made to have the authorities at Washington act in the matter.
