A terrible explosion occurred at McLarkins mill, near Caledonia, Wilcox County, Ala., the other day. The explosion was caused by an imperfect safety valve. The boiler ___ through the mill and sped along close to the ground for 400 feet and buried itself in the ground. Sim Watts, a farmer, Alexander Grace, laborer at the mill, and Allen Hollinger, fireman, were killed. F. I. Defee, a farmer, had a leg broken and was internally injured. His recovery is doubtful. The owner of the mill was the only person on the premises who escaped serious injury.
