Misses Clarine Smith, Emeline Neale, Fanny Hopkins, Alice Neale, Florida Neale, Norma Smith and Mrs. George Neale, Jr., were brought to Wheeling from Parkersburg, Virginia, and confined in the debtor’s apartment of the county jail for refusing to take the oath. Subsequently they commented to subscribe to the test, and giving the required bond, were discharged.
