Rehoboth Delaware 21 December 1920

Isaac Waples, veteran hotel clerk, died in Washington, D. C. Saturday night at a Washington theater while with friends awaiting seating. For the past several months he had been working at the front desk of the Metropolitan Hotel in D C.

Ike, as he was known to his friends, was a familiar figure to visitors at down state hotels, and was a long time clerk at the Henlopen. He had also worked at the Dover Hotel Richardson, the Rodney in Lewes and the Merritt House in Wilmington.

Ike was a high speed talker, full of friendly conversation and had a remarkable memory of names and faces.

His body was removed to his home town of Lewes for interment service.
