PERSONAL AND GENERAL
---------------------
FATHER O'FARRELL, an esteemed Catholic priest, committed suicide in Peoria, III., on the 15th, by cutting his throat and a vein in his arm. For several years he had suffered from a painful dropsical complaint, and got into the habit of taking drugs to relieve the pain. The doses were recently reduced by his superiors because they thought he was taking too much. It is supposed these circumstances produced temporary insanity.
