THE other day a rope sustaining a swinging scaffold, on which three men were engaged in painting the side of a large elevator at Peoria, Ill., broke and Jacob Wattenschwuller was killed and Joseph Vail fatally hurt. R. O. Shupp caught the rope and escaped injury.
