Rehoboth Beach August 27 1974
Nolan Travis, age 93, better known as 'Nole' , of Washington Street, Rehoboth, died Sunday
in the Beebe Hospital Lewes after a long illness.
He was a mason and laid many a brick around Rehoboth. He also was an oarsman with the flat
bottom, high sided, fishing Dory fleet , which had from six to eight oarsmen each boat, and left real early mornings from Hickman Street beach, returning near dark evening after being rowed far out to the best fishing grounds. He had come to Rehoboth in the 1920's.
He is survived by his Son James Travis of Rehoboth, daughters Loreen DeLong, Ruth Bryan,
and Dorothy Short, all of Rehoboth, eight grand children and twenty two great grand children.
His wife, Rosalie, died in 1960
Services were held at Harrington, his birthplace, with the McKnatt Funeral Home and he was buried in Hollywood Cemetery.
