Marion, Ala., Sept. 27.—Monday was Underwood day here, a good roads address at the court house to 1000 voters, an address at Marion Institute to 400 students and a guest of the alumnae reception of Marion Female seminary in the evening were the event so the day.
Perry county was directly instrumental in making O. W. Underwood congressman, the first time he ran for office and has given him a solid vote every opportunity since that time. He was introduced to the good roads audience by Hon. W. M. Fowlkes, who briefly referred to Congressman Underwood’s record in the national assembly as the “great American, the greatest Alabamian of today.”
