Maggie Manley was born in Madison county, Arkansas, in 1866, died February 5, 1913, at her home in Houston. She came to Texas county when small, and at the age of 16 years was married to Marion Mefford, who was killed in Independence county, Arkansas, several years ago. To them four children were born: Mary, Julia, Johnnie and Willie, only two of whom live to mourn their loss, Mary Beckley, of Kansas City, Mo., and Willie. On March 29, 1892, she was married to Rube Parker. To this union three children were born, Ed, Lee and Elston. Elston died. Mrs. Parker leaves three sons, one daughter, husband, one brother, James Manley, near Houston, a half brother, Frank Justice, of Cabool, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Wineland. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Christian Church at Houston. Funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. J. J. Carty last Friday forenoon and the remains were interred in the Houston cemetery.
