Description: Obituary - Eliza J. Brestler.

Date: June 28 1917

Newspaper published in: Houston, MO

Eliza J. Brestler was born March 16, 1830. Was married in Ohio to Thomas Burris; to this union were born seven children, of whom six are now living. They came to Texas county, Missouri, where they spent remainder of their lives. Mr. Burris died April 14, 1908. A year or so after his death Grandma Burris, as she was called by nearly everyone, broke up house-keeping and lived with her children, spending part of the time with some of them in Oklahoma. She came to the home of her son, Marshall Burris, two years ago, where she lived until she passed away, May 4, 1917.

Grandma united with the Presbyterian church in girlhood and lived in that faith the rest of her life.

Grandma had a stroke of paralysis, February, 1916, from which she was confined to her bed until death released her. She was of a cheerful disposition and always afraid of being a trouble to someone.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. c. Harper May 6, after which she was laid to rest until that great day, in the Burris graveyard, by her husband and child.
