Milton, March 10, 1942
Funeral service was held for Dr. Robert B. Hopkins, age 76, Wednesday, March 11, 1942, at his Federal Street home with intermen
at Goshen Methodist Cemetery.
Dr. Hopkins was the oldest practicing physician in Sussex county with a 55 year record. He also was a civic leader, past
president of the State Medical Society, a 1933 member of the General Assembly and a three term mayor of Milton. He was
responsible for the water system of Milton and kept the Bank of Milton intact. He was member of local school board and one
time president of Sussex County Board of Education. He was a director of Sussex Trust Company , Mason Tall Cedar.
He was graduate of Jefferson Medical School in 1887 and treturned to Milto to practice beside his Father, Dr. James Alfred
Hopkins, long time Milton doctor.
Dr. Hopkins married Marie Nelson of Copenhagen who survives with the children, Winifred Larke of New York City, James, Robert and
John, all of Milton.
