Montgomery owes little in the way of public institutions to the magnificence of her rich citizens. Hence the new chapel of the Episcopal Church, built by Mr. Josiah Morris, and on yesterday dedicated to the church, marks an important event. It is the first gift of importance by an individual to a public, religious or charitable purpose, and stirs an unwonted feeling of grateful appreciation in the minds and hearts of the large congregation who are the special recipients. It is a monument to Mr. Morris that will last as long as the city. Of which he is the wealthiest inhabitant, and among whose people he justly ranks so high in personal influence and business integrity.—Montgomery Advertiser.
