Mrs. Lavinia HAWKINS, mother of M. B., Cicero, Ed and Sam HAWKINS, and sister of Judge F. M. YOUNGBLOOD, died at Sandoval at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. C. TOOTHAKER, last Friday night, from the effects of a paralytic stroke. The remains were taken to Pinckneyville where the funeral was held Sunday.

Deceased was nearly 74 years of age. She was born in Williamson county and moved to Perry county in early childhood. On November 17, 1847 she was joined in wedlock to Marquis C. HAWKINS. To this union there came seven children, five fo whom survive the mother. The father died nearly two years ago, since which time the venerable lady seems to have lost interest in the affairs of life and the end came to her as the means of being reunited with her life's partner in the Great Beyond.

The funeral was very simple, at her request the service consisted of the reading, by the Baptist minister, of a selection from Dickens of "The Child's Dream of a Star."

The bereaved family have the condolences of a large acquaintanceship.
