Lewes, Delaware November 3, 1930

The funeral of Dr. Joseph Burton Lyons,, age 96, who died Friday in Beebe Hospital after falling at the home of his son,
Captain Henry Lyons a Delaware River & Bay pilot, was held at St. Peters Episcopal Church. Burial as in the church yard.

He was the son of Laban Law and Hannah Rodney Lyons, born November 2 1835 near Georgetown.

At age 27, February 2, 1863 he married Margaret Carpenter Virden and they had four children , Hannah Rodney Lyons, Henry Virden
Lyons, Elizabeth Lyons, and Margaret West Lyons. His wife Margaret died 21 March in 1920 and a daughter, Elizabeth, died in 1875 at age
27 years.

Dr. Lyons was a graduate of Philadelphia Medical College and had his practice at Lewes on the corner of Second and South Street,
in the mansion house of the late Henry Rodney which had a splendid view of the Breakwater, Cape Henlopen and the Bay.
