We are compelled to chronicle one of the most melancholly and distressing events which ever occur, the shooting of Andrew FORBES on last Sunday afternoon, by William JACKSON, our city Marshal. Young FORBES and others, we understand, had been fighting on Main street. After getting through with the fight, FORBES and his brother walked across the railroad towards the Parker House. The Marshal considering FORBES disorderly and disturbing the peace, ordered him under arrest, and attempted to arrest him when FORBES made at him, brandishing a knife. The Marshal then fired three shots, FORBES died within a few minutes after being shot. The Marshal gave himself up to the city authorities, and we understand, wishes a judicial investigation of the affair. King Alcohol was the ruling spirit of this affair. FORBES had been drinking, and under the inspiration of drink, he acted as he did.
