Death of Colonel Sidney M. Barnes
Colonel Sidney M. Barnes died recently in Carthage, Mo., aged seventy years.
[He was born in Estil County, Ky., was a lawyer by profession; commanded the Eighth Kentucky Union regiment during the war and participated in many of the battles of the Army of the Cumberland; in 1868 was the Republican nominee for Governor of Kentucky, afterwards a prominent lawyer of Little Rock, Ark., and in 1877 United States attorney for the Territory of New Mexico. At the close of his term he moved to Carthage.]
