The recently appointed American consul to Caroline Islands, Herbert L. Read, of Carthage, Ill., has just received a letter from his brother, who has been a missionary on the islands for ten years, giving an account of an outrage committed by the natives. In their revolt against Spain natives have killed 300 foreigners, including 190 Spanish soldiers.
