Description: White Caps in Alabama - McDuffy Threatened with Violence

Date: March 16 1889

Newspaper published in: Memphis, TN

Page/Column: Page 4, Column 3

The Democrats of Wilcox County, Ala., did well to protest against the three White Cappers who threatened with violence Mr. J. V. McDuffy, a Republican, who is contesting Turpin’s seat in Congress, in case he prosecuted his purpose to take testimony to sustain his seat, but hey would have done better had they guaranteed him against any interference by these White Cappers who, by their misconduct, may succeed in making more trouble for Turpin and preventing him from retaining his seat.
