Ex-Treasurer Hemingway’s Property
JACKSON, MISS., Oct. 10.—By agreement, the Chancery Court, Judge Conn presiding, confirmed the sale of ex-State Treasurer Hemingway’s North Dakota wheat farm and some other property in Hinds County. These sales were made by the sureties of the ex-State treasurer. The Dakota farm was valued at $60,000, and after the encumbrances were paid off netted $25,000. The property in Hinds County, which does not include the residence, brought $7,000. The residence and lands attached brought $8,000. The bondsmen now think their loss will not be so great as at first thought, the amount of which will largely depend on the manner in which the other property is disposed of.
