OVER THE STATE
The following special appeared in the Montgomery Advertiser, yesterday: Eufaula, Ala, May 26.—Mr. E. L. Catteville, clerk of the City Court, suicided here to-day at 2 o’clock by shooting himself through the brain.—He died in about an hour. No cause is known for the desperate deed. A committee of the City Council were examining his books and were to have reported today week. The committee refuse to be interviewed as to what condition they were finding his accounts in. He was insured for $12,000, of which $5,000 was in the “Mutual Reserve Fund,” and the balance, I think, in societies. He was very popular and left an interesting family. He had been clerk about four years.
