Description: List of Prominent Gentlemen for Governor

Date: May 21 1885

Newspaper published in: Huntsville, AL

The Union Springs Herald says: judging from the tone of our State exchanges the gubernatorial race is beginning to open. Several prominent gentlemen have been mentioned as possible candidates, among whom are Hons. N. H. R. Dawson, of Dallas, Jno. M. McKleroy, of Barbour, H. Clay Armstrong, of Lee and Thos. Seay, of Hale. Among other worthy and capable gentlemen whose friends desire to flatter them with a possibility of gubernatorial honors, are Hons. Jno. Moore, of Perry, and Thos. D. Cory, of Autauga. It is probable should Col. McKleroy not be a candidate, that Hon. H. D. Clayton will be in the field. The election takes place next year.
