Mr. I. N. Cochran, of Downey City, California, brother of our townsman, Thos. J. Cochran, arrived in this city this week on a visit to relatives and friends. Mr. Cochran was raised in Marshall County, and when the war came up he went out with the Forty-ninth Alabama, and when the war closed he was liberated from prison at Champ Chase. He then, in company with his brother Wm., went to the State of New York, where they went to work to procure means to take them to California. Sometime after reaching their destination, William died, and Mr. I. N. (Newt) has remained in that State ever since.—Guntersville Democrat.
