--ATLANTA, Sept. 27.—The charges against the rector of St. Phillip’s church, the Rev. J. G. Armstrong, are being investigated by the Committee of the Diocese, and his trail before the Bishop will probably be called at an early date. It will be remembered that he recently visited Cincinnati, and while there is charged with having gotten drunk and visited a bawdy house. He claims he visited them to reclaim a fallen relative. The Vestry of his church passed a resolution expressing their confidence in him and he has occupied the pulpit since. He is probably the most eloquent preacher in the State, and is held in the highest esteem by the people of Atlanta.
