Newspaper published in: Leadwood, MO

Page/Column: 1/2

Thurmond HOVIS, 32 years old, died at the Bonne Terre Hospital late Sunday as a result of injuries received when he fell under a moving freight train near the Missouri and Illinois Railroad depot at Elvins, Mo. HOVIS, it seems, was attempting to board a moving train when he fell between the cars and under the wheels, both legs being severed. This occurred about 5:30 p.m. He was rushed to the Bonne Terre Hospital but died a few moments after the arrival there. The body was returned to the J. L. Horn Undertaking rooms at Elvins.

HOVIS was buried at Coldwater, Mo., with full military honors, having been a member of the U. S. Marines.
