Hon. Henry W. Hilliard, whose eloquence was the chief strength of the Whigs of Alabama in the “olden time and golden,” will lecture in Montgomery on the character of William L. Yancey. No one knew better than Mr. Hilliard the matchless force of Mr. Yancey. We know that such a lecturer as the scholarly Hilliard, with such a brilliant and marvelous theme as Yancy furnishes, must make his discourse a memorable one. Why shouldn’t we have the lecture in Huntsville? Then too, the proceeds are to go towards erecting a monument to the Confederate dead of Alabama, high up among whom is the list that Huntsville contributed to Fame’s eternal camping-ground.
