John Smith of Claysville precinct of this county has a wagon which has been in constant use since 1856. The only repairing necessary was caused by the breaking down of one of the wheels last week. Who can beat this record?—Guntersville Democrat.
General E. W. Pettus was chosen as Chief Marshal for the visit of Jeff. Davis to Montgomery. In appointing his assistants, as was meet and proper, he chose from our county Jno. W. Perkins who, when quite a lad, enlisted in the Confederate service.—Guntersville Democrat.
