“Rest in peace” dear uncle,
Thy troubles and trials are o’er,
For thou art now in Heaven,
With Jesus to dwell evermore.
We who are here to mourn, uncle,
Are grieved to be left behind,
But we hope to meet thee in Heaven,
And dwell with the Savior, so kind.
We sympathize with dear aunt Ella
In the loss of her dearest friend,
And hope she’ll meet thee in Heaven,
When God, his messenger will send.
We’ll heed your dying words, uncle,
And thy advice we’ll try to obey,
For we want to live a Christian life,
And meet thee on God’s judgment day.
We’ll try and console aunt Ella,
And give her a comfortable home;
For we know she is nearly heart-broken,
To be left so sad and alone
Signed: A sorrowing niece, Lola M. GIBSON, Valleton, April 8, 1890
