William C. RUNKEL died at his home in Mauston, Oct 22, 1930, aged 69 years.
He was born in the town of Germantown, this county, April 3, 1861, and was the son of Frederick and Margaret KLIPPEL RUNKEL, who were among the pioneer settlers of Juneau county. He spent his entire life, with the exception of the past year, in Germantown.
On March 29, 1891, Augusta EBERLEIN was married to Mr. Runkel. To this union were born 1 son, Frederick W. of Mauston, and 5 daughters, Mrs. Henry MAUER and Mrs. Chester CARTER of Mauston, Mrs. Roy NOYES of Necedah, Mrs. Bert LOPSHIRE and Mattie RUNKEL of Milwaukee, who with his wife, 6 grandchildren, and 1 brother, Otto H. RUNKEL of Detroit, MI, survive him.
Mr. Runkel was active in the affairs of his community, having been treasurer of School District No. 1 for many years and he also served as County Supervisor for 40 consecutive years, and chairman of the Juneau County Road Committee for many years. ** burial in the Mauston cemetery.
