Description: Candelaria Dwindling

Date: August 4 1905

Newspaper published in: Hawthorne

The post office at Candelaria has been discontinued. The camp has a bullion record of $18,000,000, and at one time boasted of 7,000 population. Now the sight of the town is marked by a few scatered buildings and only a handful of people remain. The ore is still there, but the low price of silver will not permit of the mines being worked.
