Lebanon, Mo., July 19.--Mr. Francis APPERSON--"Grandpa" APPERSON, as he was familiarly called--passed peacefully away this morning, after an illness of nearly two months, aged 87 years. Mr. APPERSON was born in Virginia, but sought his fortune in the West, settling in Southern Illinois in 1833. On the organization of Clay County he was elected County and Circuit Clerk, which office he held for two terms. He was Postmaster at Louisville, the present county seat of Clay County, under BUCHANAN. He was reappointed by JOHNSON, and held the position until after the inauguration of GRANT.

In 1879 he removed to this place and has since resided here. In religion he was a Methodist, having been a member of that Church for more than sixty years. He was also a member of Center Lodge, A. F. and A. M., of this city, and the funeral will be conducted by that fraternity.
